Four Questions to Ask Yourself About Your Health Habits

Four questions to ask yourself about your Health habits:

Do you skip meals?
You may be like many people who think that if you skip breakfast and/or lunch, you’ll “save calories” and lose weight more easily. Ironically, if you do this, you’re likely hurting rather than helping your weight loss efforts. First of all, if you skip breakfast, you’re setting yourself up to eat more later in the day. Also, your body burns calories more efficiently if, like any fire, the furnace in your belly is fed multiple times a day.

Do you eat late at night?
Sleep is nature’s recharge time. It’s when your body naturally works on detoxing and tissue repair. However, if you eat late at night, instead of detoxing, your body is busy digesting your late night meal so you can wake up sluggish. And if you eat a big meal close to your bedtime, you likely won’t be hungry in the morning, which causes you to skip breakfast, perpetuating the cycle. Experts recommend that we stop eating approximately 4 hours before bedtime.

Do you drink a lot of coffee?
Caffeine intake is known to increase the body’s production of cortisol, which is called the stress hormone. Among other things, cortisol is linked to cravings for sugary and fatty foods. So if you’re replacing meals with cups of coffee in an attempt to save calories, you’re definitely hurting your weight loss efforts.

Do you drink everything else besides plain water?
Every cell in your body requires water to function optimally. The average adult body is up to 60% water. The body uses water for nearly every important task, yet most of us quench our thirst with liquids other than water. You know that sodas, juices and energy drinks are filled with sugar. And recently, I wrote about how diet sodas have their own dark side. But ordinary water, whether tap or bottled, is always the best choice for drinking. It helps your metabolism burn more efficiently, it fills your stomach and helps your body detoxify itself.

Along with your adjustable gastric balloon, rethinking these health habits will help your weight loss efforts.
